Mechanical Intelligence Gun Design 1 - Walther CWS
If you read the one page excerpt from Mechanical Intelligence that I've also posted you'll see my writing style is hard boiled genre fiction. To that end I try and remove as much description from the final draft as I can. The first draft has a lot, the second close to none. That doesn't mean I haven't spent time designing the technology from a 2030's NYC though, so I'm going to be building and rendering a series of weapons and spaces from Mechanical Intelligence over the next year.
The first is Alice's NYPD CWS handgun. I read about a CWS (Centrifugal Weapons System) a while ago. It had a drum that accelerates small particles to rail gun velocities then sprays them in a precise stream for maximum effect. It is supposed to very light, silent and power efficient and was my starting point. The cartridge at the front contains the centrifuge which spins and fires pellets from the 8 micro-barrels. It is battery powered from the grip.
The gun is 3d printed from ceramic to be light, hard and modular. You can see from the images the main body is constructed from two pieces bolted together, idea being this forms the basics for a wider gun system, shotguns, rifles etc. I'm planning to do the shotgun next (after I do the main M.I. room from Cortex's HQ ...)
Below are screen grabs from Rhino, I will be rendering and putting them into scenes at a later date :)
